Six women voters die as jeep plunges into ravine in AJK’s Neelum Valley
NEELUM VALLEY: Six women voters died when the jeep they were traveling from a polling station went out of control and fell into a gorge in Azad Kashmir’s Neelum Valley on Sunday.
Five people including three women were also injured in the accident which occurred near Dodhniyal. The injured were shifted to a BHU for medical treatment.
The voting at polling station numbers 07 and 08 in Beesiyanwali in Dodhniya was temporarily suspended after the accident.
The deceased women had cast their vote and were on their way back home when the tragedy struck.
The dead women were identified as Shamim Bibi, Zaiwar Jan, widow Amin Malik, Altaf Jan, Bibi Guddi and Rani Bibi.
The injured were named as Walayat Bibi, Sobia Bibi, Habib Jan, driver Fida Hussain and Muhammad Bashir.
It may be mentioned here that voting in local body elections is taking place throughout Azad Kashmir today.
