Suspect who killed policeman in Karachi’s defence says he killed him in self-defence

Claims the policeman tried to kill him inside the car but bullet got stuck

The accused, Khurram Nisar, who killed a policeman in Defense area of ​​Karachi and fled abroad, has released a video statement regarding the alleged situation on the day of the incident.

In his statement, the accused says that he did not kill the policeman intentionally but after the official directed him to go somewhere else instead of the police station he got suspicious that they were attempting to kidnap him.

“The policeman fired at me first but the bullet got stuck in the chamber of his pistol. He was about to fire again,” he said adding that he killed the cop in self-defense.

The accused said in his statement that the policemen asked to arrest him for possessing arms and abducting the girl.

“Shaheen Force officer’s job was not to stop me, he was without uniform and did not even show his card,” he said.

Nisar said he had asked his brother-in-law to bring his documents from his house. He added that his brother-in-law did not know what actually had happened.

Suspect fled abroad

Nisar had managed to escape abroad after killing the policeman.

According to the police the suspect used a Swedish passport for immigration and departed for Sweden via Istanbul by an international flight.

Sources told Aaj News that Nisar, the son of a former deputy commissioner, was trying to kidnap a woman. The woman managed to escape when the Shaheen Force man, who was patrolling in the area, arrived there. Rehman wanted to take the suspect to the police station for investigation.

However, the demand led to an exchange of hot words between the suspect and the policeman, and the former fired at the latter from his pistol. CCTV footage showed that the driver ran away after this.

Case registered

The first information report of the incident had been registered under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 302 (punishment of qatl-i-amd) of the Pakistan Penal Code and section (punishment for acts of terrorism) 7 of the ATA.

Police seek interpole’s help in Nisar’s arrest Following the news that the suspect managed to escape abroad, the Sindh police decided to take Interpol’s help in the arrest of cop murder suspect.

“The killer of Shaheed Abdul Rehman will be arrested from anywhere,” DIG South Irfan Baloch told Aaj News. “We have contacted the FIA for the arrest of the suspect.”
