Court records ECP statement against Imran Khan in toshakhana case
ISLAMABAD: A sessions court in Islamabad recorded the election commission’s statement against Imran Khan in the Toshakhana reference.
The hearing was presided over by Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal. District Election Commissioner Waqas Malik gave his statement, against Imran Khan.
Imran Khan has already been disqualified by the ECP in the reference for false declaration of gifts received in his tenure as prime minister, that he got form the toshakhana by paying a portion of their value.
The ECP is looking to get Imran Khan sentenced to a three-year term in jail as well as a fine for corrupt practices. The total value of the gifts is Rs108 million which Imran Khan allegedly got from the toshakhan by paying Rs.21.8 million.
Gill not indicted
On the other hand Shahbaz Gill could not be indicted in case of ‘inciting mutiny’ in the armed forces.
Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas presided over the hearing, where Gill requested that it was necessary to know who else was accused in the case. He also requested that the hearing be adjourned۔ The hearing was adjourned till December 3.
Shahbaz Gill had called for junior officers to ‘defy anti-constitutional’ orders in a TV program on August 8.
