Nawaz Sharif withdraws UK visa extension plea, heads to Europe on vacation
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has withdrawn his appeal from British Home Office for an extension in his stay in the UK, sources told Aaj News on Monday.
The PML-N leader’s visa extension appeal was pending in the UK Immigration Tribunal had been pending for a year. The delay in hearing the appeal, according to sources, was due to the Home Office seeking an extension to submit its responses on the appeal.
The UK Home Office had turned down Nawaz Sharif’s application for a stay last year. It, however, gave him an in-country right of appeal against the decision. This means Nawaz was not required to leave the UK until he had exhausted all his appeal rights in the UK.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Sharif along with family members has left for Europe for vacation and will return to Britain after ten days.
