As political news continues to flow in from all sides, here are all of today’s major developments. The story will be updated as the day goes along and more news comes in.

Imran addresses via video link as PTI’s long march continues towards Islamabad

Imran Khan, addressing the long march via video link from his Lahore residence in Zaman Park, reiterated that army chief should be appointed on merit. “I am not like PDM who even needs the police IG to be of their own choice,” he said. He also criticised the Sharif brothers for making ‘Pakistan’s decisions in London.’

He also said that Pakistan was doing ‘historically well’ before his government was ousted.

PTI’s ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ resumed its slow approach towards the capital on the third day of its resumption on Saturday.

The march is moving in two different segments. The first, being led by Shah Mahmood Qureshi, started from Wazirabad on Thursday, where it had halted after the assassination attempt on Imran Khan. This part of the march reached GTS Chowk in Gujrat on Friday, and continued on the GT road from Lalamusa onwards today (Saturday).

Before setting off to lead the march on its third day, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the only way to end the impasse is a fresh election.

A second part of the march, led by Asad Umar, started its journey from Toba Tek Singh on Friday and will continued on to Jhang today (Saturday), meeting processions of workers throughout the route.

Barring rain, the T20 World Cup final between Pakistan and England will also be screened in the march on Sunday.

Shehbaz Sharif extends stay in London

Although initial reports said that PM Shehbaz Sharif had left London for Pakistan on Friday, there seemed to be a late of change of plan as the premier extended his stay for another day.

Aaj’s Saqib Raja had reported that the Sharif brothers had decided that the ‘senior most’ officer will be appointed army chief. It was also decided that PDM leadership will be taken into confidence over the decision when the PM returns to Islamabad.

However, the extension in Shehbaz’s stay in London might mean lead to more developments.
