Dost Muhammad Mazari released on bail
Punjab Assembly’s former deputy speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, has been released from camp jail after the court granted him bail.
Mazari was released after the court accepted his bail plea and directed him to submit security bonds worth Rs0.5 million.
Earlier an anti-corruption court in Lahore accepted Mazari’s bail plea and ordered Mazari’s release while directing him to submit two surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.
The court had earlier reserved its ruling on Mazari’s bail application who was facing charges of illegally occupying the government land.
On October 29, the Anti-Corruption Establishment of Punjab arrested Mazari on charges of embezzling government land.
ACE had summoned Mazari on October 11 on the same charges, but he failed to appear before it.
For his failure to comply with the summons, the department decided to file a case against him. Besides Dost Muhammad Mazari, Sher Muhammad Mazari and Moazzam Mazari were also summoned.
According to police report, thousands of acres of land were embezzled by Mazari.
