Imran Khan rapidly recovering from wounds, could be discharged within 48 hours
A four-member medical board found Ex-PM Imran Khan’s medical reports to be satisfactory on Saturday. Doctors said that there was a good chance that the PTI chief could be discharged in the next 24-48 hours.
The board, headed by Dr Faisal Sultan performs a daily check-up to see how well Imran Khan’s injuries are healing. Saturday’s x-ray and CT scans were all reported to be clear. However, doctors told Khan not to walk too much and be extremely careful when he did. Another check-up is scheduled for Saturday evening.
Imran Khan was rushed to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital in Lahore after being injured in an assassination attempt in Wazirabad on Thursday. Doctors found that fragments of four bullets had injured his leg.
Before the speech, Dr Faisal Sultan gave a brief presentation showing 2 bullet fragments in Imran Khan’s right thing, and two in his lower leg.
Doctors also said that Khan’s femoral artery avoided being hit by the narrowest of margins. After surgery on Thursday, he recovered enough to address the nation on Friday, with his leg wrapped in a cast.
Imran Khan said that he had been ‘blessed with another chance’ after surviving the assassination, and vowed to resume his long march as soon as he recovered fully.
