KARACHI: The four suspects arrested in the Machhar Colony lynching incident would be kept in police custody for eight days, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) ruled on Monday.

The police brought Farooq, Rabiul Salam, Faisal, Abdul Gafoor in front of the court. The ATC ordered the police to bring them before it on November 8 and sought a report from it.

A mob killed two employees of a cellular company in Karachi’s Machhar Colony on October 28 after rumours spread that they were kidnappers. The deceased was visiting the area, apparently, to “check [an] antenna and signals”, Keamari Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Fida Hussain Janwari said.

Meanwhile, the Sindh High Court summoned the inspector general of police, the DIGP, and SSP Investigation-III South, Kemari tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1pm.

The court in an order asked the police to come along with the progress report on the incident.
