Red Zone extension to invite political confrontation: Rashid
The government’s decision to expand the areas of Islamabad’s Red Zone into the Zero Point will lead to political confrontation, former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad warned on Sunday.
Rashid, who is famous for his political prophecies, said that such a decision also negates the Supreme Court order.
“The institutions have also said that there is no restriction on holding a peaceful march. On Friday, November 4, we will accord a historic welcome to the long march from Rawat to Islamabad,” the former interior minister said in a series of tweets on Sunday.
“The government is running away from elections. The offer of negotiations is just a bluff. Those who originally hold power should conduct elections for the betterment of the country,” he said and added that confronting the will of the people means the destruction of the economy and default.
Rashid alleged that the Federal Investigation Agency was putting pressure on the Punjab police to arrest him. “There will be a hearing on my petition for my pre-arrest bail in the Lahore High Court on Oct 31 [tomorrow],” he added.
