ISLAMABAD: More than 13,000 security personnel would be deployed in Islamabad in a bid to thwart the PTI’s long march to the federal capital, sources said.

A heavy contingent of Rangers and the Frontier Corps (FC) has arrived in Islamabad and other equipment, including tear gases, has been provided to them.

Number of security personnel

  • Islamabad police: 4,190
  • FC: 4,265
  • Rangers: 3,600
  • Sindh police: 1,022

Who will monitor the security situation?

  • Two DIGs
  • Four SSPs
  • 11 SPs
  • 30 ASPs and DSPs would also perform duties

What they have been provided?

  • 616 tear gas guns
  • More than 50,000 shells
  • 611 12-bore guns
  • 36,700 12-bore rounds
  • 2,430 masks
  • 374 cars
  • 17 pepper ball guns with 4,000 projectiles

Meanwhile, hundreds of containers have been placed throughout the capital to prevent the PTI’s long march.

Police trainees from the Razzaqabad Training Centre were told to go to Islamabad for the long march by train.

“No one paid for their tickets,” said a trainee.

PTI chief Imran Khan has claimed that the long march would be peaceful and there would no violence. But, the federal government has decided to not allow the former prime minister to “storm” Islamabad.

The coalition government’s hopes were dashed on Wednesday when the Supreme Court rejected their petition to issue an interim order against the PTI chief to stop his party’s planned long march towards Islamabad.
