Minus one will result in minus all, warns Sheikh Rashid

Warns coalition govt of consequences if Imran excluded from politics

Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that he had asked the PTI Chairperson Imran Khan to give a call for long march toward Islamabad, adding that Imran Khan feared that minus one would result in minus all.

“Excluding Imran Khan from the country’s politics will not be minus one but minus all,” Rashid said warning the incumbent government of the consequences.

Rashid said that the country was rapidly moving towards political confrontation and bashed the coalition government over the deteriorating political and economic condition of the country saying that the incumbent government lacks political sense.

The AML chief clearly stated that the coalition government planned to minus Imran Khan from politics then they would make sure to reciprocate and it would result in ‘minus all’ for their political careers as well.

Meanwhile, Former foreign minister and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government’s plan was to exclude Imran Khan from politics.

“We do not accept the minus one decision,” the former foreign minister said talking to the media in Islamabad.

Qureshi said that the people were still with Imran Khan and PTI as the masses rejected the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in the by-election.

He said that people’s loyalties were changed, they tried to rig the by-elections. Lashing out at Election Commission of Pakistan for its verdict against the PTI chief, Qureshi said that ECP did not have the authority to disqualify Imran Khan.

He said that his party would challenge the decision in the Islamabad High Court, adding that Imran Khan “is and will remain the chairman of the party”.

PTI leader Asad Umar, while rejecting the ECP’s decision, said that the party would take the disqualification decision to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and this verdict would not even stand for a few hours.

The PTI leaders’ reaction came after a four-member bench of the ECP headed by CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the unanimous decision, in which the PTI chairman has been disqualified.

The verdict said that Imran Khan was no longer a member of the National Assembly, adding that he submitted a false affidavit and has been involved in corrupt practices.

The electoral watchdog declared Imran Khan’s National Assembly seat vacant.

The verdict said that Imran Khan was no longer ‘Sadiq and Amin’ and legal action should be initiated against him.
