ISLAMABAD: A special court in Islamabad on Monday granted former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan interim bail till October 31 in the prohibited funding case.

Special Judge Raja Asif Mehmood heard the petition filed by Imran Khan today (Monday) morning. The court directed Imran Khan to submit a bail bond of Rs100,000.

The case was registered against Imran Khan and other party leaders by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in connection with their party allegedly receiving prohibited funding.

On August 2, this year, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued its verdict in the prohibited funding case against the PTI, which stated that the party did indeed receive prohibited funding.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had granted the PTI chairman protective bail in the case till October 18 (tomorrow) and had noted that Imran Khan could approach the court of special judge to avail remedies provided under the law.
