CM Punjab announces formation of five new districts in Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi announced on Friday the formation of five new administrative districts in the province.
Elahi, on the directives of PTI Chairperson Imran Khan, has approved the creation of new districts of Taunsa Sharif, Murree, Wazirabad, Talagang and Kot Addu.
The chief minister said that the promises made to the people of the province have been fulfilled. “I had announced to make Taunsa a district in 2005 and this announcement was made in a huge gathering,” the chief minister recalled.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of CM Elahi, in which former Federal Minister Munis Elahi and former Chief Minister Sardar Osman Buzdar also participated.
He clarified that in 2018 during a public gathering he had announced to form Talagang a district.
The chief minister said that Murree, Wazirabad, and Kot Addu have also been approved for making districts.
Chief secretary, senior members of the Board of Revenue, former Principal Secretary Chief Minister GM Sikandar and other senior officials participated in the meeting. During the meeting, senior member of the Board of Revenue gave a briefing on new districts in Punjab.
He said that the formation of new districts will improve administrative affairs and increase education, health, and other facilities.
Apart from this, on the demand of Mohsin Leghari, work has also started on making Jampur a district and a final decision will be taken in this regard in the next few days.
Assembly members of Taunsa Sharif, Murree, Wazirabad, Talagang and Kot Uddu expressed their gratitude to the chief minister for the approval of the districts.
