KARACHI: At least two Rangers personnel were injured in an exchange of fire with two unidentified men on motorcycle, who ignored their signal to stop, near the Manzil Pump area in Karachi on Wednesday.

The two injured personnel were on duty for routine checking in the area, SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur said in a statement. They were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.

They were targeted when chased them. The incident occurred as Karachi, the economic hub of Pakistan, deals with the rising cases of street crimes in the city.

A young man in Karachi’s Shadman Town was killed on Monday night resisting a mugging within a week after he lost his motorbike to robbers. Osama was a Hafiz-e-Quran.

His father told reporters that robbers had snatched his motorbike at gunpoint this week. He went out to buy a new one with his savings.

Osama did not want to lose the money that was meant to get him another motorbike. He resisted the robbers, who shot him in cold blood.

He was the only son of his parents, according to the father.
