Former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairperson Imran Khan will appear before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Thursday in a terrorism case registered against him for threatening a judge and top police officials.

Imran agreed to appear before the court after discussion with PTI’s legal team which was held at the PTI chief’s Bani Gala residence. The meeting, which was attended by Babar Awan, Fawad Chaudhry and other legal experts, reviewed the terrorism case against Imran Khan.

Awan termed the case registered against Imran Khan as fake, saying that international organizations were condemning it.

Earlier on Sunday, Margalla police registered a case against Imran Khan under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for threatening a female judge.

The FIR stated that PTI chairperson, during a public gathering, threatened and terrorized the judiciary and the police.

The Islamabad High Court had granted transit bail to Khan on Monday and barred Islamabad Police from arresting him.

Nomination papers’ case: Imran Khan’s lawyer seeks time to submit reply

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s counsel sought time to submit a reply in the case seeking rejection of Imran’s nomination papers in the appellate tribunal of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Earlier, Haider Ali, a resident of Mardan, had filed a plea in the PHC’s election tribunal against the acceptance of the nomination papers of Imran Khan for the by-elections.

The petition states that the PTI chief had not submitted the details regarding the prices of the valuables he bought from Toshakhana and his tax returns.

Imran Khan has not mentioned his daughter in the election commission, therefore, he [Imran Khan] is not honest and trustworthy and his nomination papers should be rejected, it added.

PHC’s appellate election tribunal judge Justice Ijaz Anwar presided over the hearing of the case, where Khan’s lawyer, Qazi Irshad Babar, sought time to submit the reply as he had not prepared the case.

The court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing till tomorrow [Thursday].

On the other hand, the Lahore High Court rejected objections of the ECP and a PML-N candidate’s plea challenging the acceptance of the PTI chief’s nomination papers and allowed Imran Khan to contest by-elections in the NA-108 (Faisalabad) and NA-118 (Nankana Sahib) constituencies.

The orders on two separate pleas were issued by Justice Shahid Waheed of LHC’s appellate election tribunal.

On August 5, Khan had announced to contest by-polls from all nine seats vacated after the NA speaker accepted PTI MNAs’ resignation.

According to the ECP schedule, the by-polls on the nine National Assembly seats would be contested on September 25.

The PTI chief had announced to contest elections from all nine constituencies himself.
