Sindh’s monsoon season not finished, more to come next week
More rain and thundershowers were expected in Sindh, some areas of Punjab, south and northeastern Balochistan on August 23 and 24, the Met Office said.
“Another low pressure (LPA) area is likely to approach Sindh from Tuesday,” it said in its weather forecast on Friday. “Due to this weather system, monsoon currents are penetrating in upper and southern parts of the country.”
The weather forecast body recorded the heaviest rainfall ever in a single day all over Sindh, at 355mm, setting a new record for showers over the last 24 hours, on Friday, Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman said.
Many areas saw non-stop rain for three days, she said in a tweet. Upon fact-checking, Aaj News found that the video was old and shot by an Australian photographer. Later the minister deleted the tweet. “Have deleted a video on Jamshoro cloudburst shared by the PMD who were asked to recheck before we posted.”
