ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court admitted on Saturday a petition challenging the rejection of an extention in the remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested on charges of inciting rebellion in state institutions, with the case to be heard on Monday.

Earlier today, the Islamabad advocate general moved the Islamabad High Court against a district and sessions court decision to reject the request of the Islamabad police for an extension in Gill remand Monday.

Acting Chief Justice Umar Farooq will hear the application.

The petition states that the court should declare that there was no judicial order in the Shahbaz Gill case but an administrative order.

The request of the police to extend the physical remand of Shehbaz Gul was turned down on Friday, with the police instructed to send Imran Khan’s chief of staff to prison on judicial remand.

Meanwhile, Gill has filed a post-arrest bail application in a district and sessions court. It contends that a false FIR was filed to achieve political objectives and therefore the post-arrest bail plea should be granted.

Islamabad Police arrested Shehbaz Gul from Banigala Chowk on August 9. He has 10 cases registered against him, including inflammatory statements against institutions and inciting rebellion against their heads.
