You’d better not dance in Quetta: Aug 14 party pooper orders
If you are in Quetta on August 13 and 14, please be aware that no partying will be allowed on the streets. At least this is what the office of the Deputy Commissioner wants you to know.
It has banned one-wheeling, the use of snow spray, playing loud music from vehicles, sitting on the roofs of vehicles, throwing water packets and even, Attan.
The curious point, however, is that the last point says that “all other such unlawful activities” are also banned. This would make it appear that Attan is unlawful.
One reason for the ban on Attan is that men gather around in a circle on the road which causes traffic jams as a crowd builds up. The crowds can sometimes get rowdy. There have been incidents where families were harassed when they came out to enjoy the lights.
The ban is, however, in effect for only two days. You can come and do Attan after that.
