The Election Commission of Pakistan changed its ruling on the PTI prohibited funding case on a whim of the law minister, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and added “one a half line in the decision”, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry alleged on Wednesday.

“The ECP changed its ruling on its website,” he said while addressing a press conference that was centred on the commission decision which said that the former ruling party took prohibited funding from foreign countries.

“Changing decision was against the Constitution and law,” Fawad said, adding that the party would move the court against the commission.

A three-member bench of the ECP in a unanimous decision on Tuesday ruled that the former ruling party took prohibited funding from foreign companies and hid 13 accounts out of the total 34 from where it received the money.

The ruling, which was announced by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, ordered that a show cause notice would be issued to the PTI.

He described the ECP as a “long arm of PDM” after saying that the Pakistan Democratic Movement leaders met with the ECP CEC on the PTI case. “There are no administrative meetings.”

Sindh member was also involved in signing the ruling, Fawad said, adding that the PTI has already filed against such a member and the CEC.

The ruling did not say that the ruling must be sent to the government, he maintained and wondered about the government’s apparent nature of hiding from the general elections.

They are running away from elections, he claimed, fearing that former premier Imran would win it.

Fawad expressed hope that the party would get justice from the court. “Yesterday, the coalition government leaders held 12 press conferences. Leaders having 88 seats are calling for imposing a ban on a party having 155 seats in the assembly.”

He reiterated that the PTI would stage a protest outside the ECP tomorrow (Thursday).
