Chaudhry Shujaat refuses to support PTI-backed candidate in Punjab CM election
In a major development ahead of the voting to elect the new chief minister of Punjab, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has refused to support Pervaiz Elahi in the election for the Punjab chief minister slot.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari made a final attempt to persuade Shujaat to win his party’s support for Hamza Shahbaz in the Punjab chief minister election instead of his brother Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
After Zardari’s meeting with Shujaat, PML-Q leader and PTI-backed candidate for CM Punjab slot, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, and his son Moonis Elahi met Shujaat.
Moonis, after meeting Shujaat, said that his uncle had refused to support the PTI-backed candidate.
