Laal Singh Chaddha’s new song preaches self-love
Laal Singh Chaddha’s latest number “Tur Kalleyan” has hit YouTube and it has us swooning. Over the past 24 hours, the video has garnered around 1.4 million views already.
“Tur Kalleyan” - a phrase suggested by Kulvinder Bakshish - means to “walk alone” and it is a perfect fit for the running themes in the song.
The lyrics, beautifully written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, revolve around themes of loss, mourning, forgiveness, and letting go.
The song charts the journey to self-love, inspiring listeners to find the friend they are seeking inside themselves. It urges people to break out from their cages like a free bird, leaving the “streets of sadness” behind, and walking alone toward a majestic destination where “earth meets sky”.
Tur Kalleyan opens with Arijit Singh singing the first few lines acapella, before the guitar, bass, and traditional instruments come together to form a soulful melody. While Shadab Faridi and Altamash Faridi accompany Singh in the chorus, creating a beautiful harmony.
The song’s creation comes after much effort on part of the entire team of Laal Singh Chaddha.
Laal Singh Chaddha is a retake of the Hollywood movie, Forrest Gump. Produced by Aamir Khan, the film stars Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Chaitanya Akkineni.
According to Khan, the music composed for this film has the blood, sweat, and tears of at least 150 people, including 75 musicians from an orchestra. Both musicians and movie producers stayed at Khan’s house to compose the music.
This song—Tur Kalleyan—features one of the longest shot sequences in the film, which took around one and a half months to shoot.
During this time, Aamir Khan was enduring knee pain, so they also had to bring a physiotherapist along with them.
We think that the hard work of all the music and film producers paid off. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
