The father of a four-year-old girl, who was found with her throat slashed in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa four days ago, has confessed to the murder, Aaj News reported on Friday.

Police say the accused confessed to the crime during the investigation, saying that he suspected that the victim was his illegitimate daughter.

The four-year-girl was found dead on the banks of Jindi River on the third day of Eid, with her throat slashed.

The police had arrested and interrogated 36 suspects and searched 40 houses before finally interrogating the father, Obaidullah.

A blood-covered knife and a pistol were found at his house. The father attempted suicide following the arrest but was held back, authorities said.

The accused was presented in court earlier today, who sent him on a three-day remand.

The FIR filed against the accused includes Section 311, which means that the killer cannot be released with blood money.
