Prices of knives, honing tools sky high in Gujranwala

Knife sellers and sharpeners wonder how people can spend on animals but not tools
Sharpening knives and buying new ones, extremely expensive

Eid-ul-Azha is supposed to be the time for sacrifice but it seems those selling knives and honing tools to sharpen them want to have their cake and eat it too in Gujranwala, Punjab.

Prices of all things related to the Eid-ul-Azha animal sacrifice are soaring.

“I came to get my knives sharpened but the price they are asking for is out of my reach. Will go look for other alternates,” a young man said after being disappointed by the high prices.

Even buying new knives is very expensive.

“I have bought two goats to sacrifice this Eid, and came to get knives but they are so expensive and the shopkeepers are not listening,” another man said.

The exorbitant prices also seem like a test from God much like the sacrifice itself, according to some citizens.

Knife sharpeners on the other hand are complaining that when people can purchase animals for very high prices, they should be able to buy knives or get them sharpened for the prices that are being quoted as well.
