Four children stuck in Islamabad’s Korang Nullah

Rescue teams successfully saved the four children stuck inside Islamanad’s Korang Nullah on Tuesday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took note of the rescue operation and lauded the teams involved.

He commended the services of district administration, police and Rescue 1122, and the Pakistan Navy for setting an excellent example.

He advised the parents to be vigilant about the safety of their children during the rainy season.

People should extend help to their fellow countrymen with the spirit of national and humanitarian compassion during the heavy downpours and flooding, he said.

Four children were trapped on a small piece of land in the middle of the Korang Nullah in the vicinity of the Bani Gala police station in Islamabad.

They were surrounded by fast-running, muddy water and have been stuck for over an hour. The children got stuck after they went out to swim in the rain water filled nullah.

Rescue services as well as Islamabad police reached the scene after what citizens claimed were many calls. They initially showed up without any boats or ropes to rescue the children safely.

As the rain stopped in the capital, it slowed down the speed of the water in the nullah, aiding the operation.

It is pertinent to note that due to heavy rains, the nullah has more water than usual, while warnings have also been issued in the twin cities to keep kids away from running water bodies to avoid such incidents. More rain has also been predicted for both Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
