Good things came in 300s for a worker in Chile
What would you do if you were accidentally given a lot more money than your intended salary at the end of the month? Not just a couple of hundred rupees but thousands more than what you earn?
One man in Chile faced this dilemma when his company overpaid him by at least 300 times. What did the man in question do? Run away, of course.
A dispatch assistant at a cold meats manufacturer could not be found after a payroll error ended up paying him Rs36,980,836.76 ($180,418), instead of Rs111,710.34 or $545 for the month of May.
The worker initially informed his manager at the Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos of the overpayment, according to a Chilean news outlet. The manager reported the issue to human resources, who in turn asked him to go to his bank and return the money.
The last the company heard about him was through an attorney. The man offered his resignation through a letter and the company has not seen him or the money since then.
The cold meats manufacturer, Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos, has filed a misappropriating funds complaint against the now missing worker but no arrests have been made so far.
