Headlines at 8am: Drizzle in Karachi, Covid, loadshedding on Eid

Drizzle and rain were reported in different parts of Karachi on Sunday night. The Met Office has forecasted rain for Monday afternoon or night. Showers are also expected in Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Northeast Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

At least 675 coronavirus cases were reported during the last 24 hours, the National Institute of Health said. The Covid positivity ratio stood at 4.61%.

PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has alleged that former premier Imran Khan’s “mental balance” deteriorated after losing the government. Addressing a rally in Lahore, Maryam also spoke about the alleged leaked audio tape of former first lady and Farah Khan.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that the PTI had apologised to US diplomat Donald Lu, who according to the former PM “threatened Pakistan with dire consequences on Imran’s Russia trip”. Asif claimed that the government has pieces of evidence and details about the apparent apology.
