Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan repeated his accusastions against the incumbent government in another press conference in Islamabad, saying it came to power through a “foreign conspiracy” with the explicit purpose of covering up its own corruption.

“This group of thieves came unprepared only to cover up their corruption,” Imran said while addressing a press conference in the capital.

He said that the “imported government” came into power to get a clean chit on their corruption cases in the form of NRO-2. “The PML-N and the PPP are destroying institutions to save their corruption,” he added.

He said that 60% of the people in the present cabinet were on bail, adding that two families had ruled for 30 years. The Punjab-based Sharif clan leads the PML-N, while the Bhutto family from Sindh controls the PPP.

Imran also took the PM Shehbaz led government to task over rampant inflation, persistent power outages and the revocation of fuel subsidies following pressure from the IMF.

“We did not have such power outages when the PTI was in power. Why is it happening now,” he asked.

The PTI chairman said that the PML-N set up coal and LNG power plants which the country would have to import. “Now the government has no money to buy coal and LNG to run the power plants,” he added.

On the economic crisis, he said that the country was on the verge of bankruptcy when the PTI came to power.

“Despite pressure from the IMF and effects of Covid-19, PTI decided not to transfer the burden to the common people.”

Lambasting the incumbent government, the PTI chief said that during the nine weeks in which the “imported government” has been power, inflation has reached a historic high.

He said that if the coalition government was blaming PTI government for the current economic crisis, it should have let the PTI rule. “We would take the responsibility if we were in power,” he added.

During his speech, Imran reminded the people that he would be leading a public protest at Islamabad’s Parade Ground on July 2 against crushing inflation. He reiterated that transparent elections are the need of the hour to protect the country from further harm and political crises.
