The late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, produced one last song named ‘SYL’, which was released after his tragic death on June 23. But now this last act of creativity has been removed by video streaming platform YouTube in India.

The song was removed on the basis of a complaint submitted by the Union government.

The track’s title refers to the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, which has been at the centre of a dispute between Punjab and Haryana for several decades.

The song reflects some triggering issues such as the 1984 Sikh Riots, farmer laws, undivided Punjab, and Sikh militants.

The song was written, sung, and composed by Sidhu and was recorded weeks before his death.

Since its launch, Sidhu’s song has been No 1 trending for music and has raked up over 29 million views and 3.3 million likes on YouTube.

Many fans were disappointed with the government’s action.
