"Teachers are arguably the most important members of our society. They give children purpose, set them up for success as citizens of the world, and inspire in them a drive to do well in life," said Karima Kara, Country Head for Cambridge University Press. "I am extremely proud that year after year, teachers from Pakistan are winning this award and are inspiring good in others."

Teachers from Pakistan have always been at the forefront of the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards. Previously, Ahmed Saya from Cordoba School was elected as the global winner for his exemplary efforts.

This year 7,000 nominees for the 2022 edition of the awards came from 113 countries around the world. Out of the nominees, a team of judges chose six regional winners who advanced to the final stage where a winner will be selected. Uroosa Imran, the regional winner for MENA and Pakistan, was among them.

Among the criteria, the judges looked at whether a teacher demonstrated innovative lesson ideas, provided fantastic pastoral care or inspired students beyond school.

Uroosa Imran of the Beaconhouse School System's Gulshan Campus in Karachi was able to secure the position of the regional winner of the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award.

"Uroosa teaches a child who suffers from a rare muscular disease due to which he is unable to sit, walk or hold things in his hands. Because of her efforts, the child comes happily to school, participates in all the activities, and is learning to express his needs and wants," a press release said. "Uroosa's relentless efforts are an inspiration to teachers across the globe."

Uroosa's attempts to assist students earned her the admiration of the judges and they credited teachers like her for honing brilliant students. She was deemed a shining example of a great educator.
