MULTAN: Pakistan thrashed West Indies by 120 runs in the second one-day international at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Mohammad Nawaz starred with the ball and finished with brilliant figures of 4/19 from his 10 overs.

The spinner dismissed Shamarh Brooks before getting the big wickets of Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran.

Pakistan leads the three-match series 2-0 after winning the two matches. The third match of the series will be played in Multan tomorrow (Saturday).

Earlier Pakistan set a 276-run target for West Indies as the host eye to clinch the three-match ODI series.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Skipper Babar Azam was the leading run-scorer for the hosts, with 77 off 93 balls. He hit five fours and one six in his innings.

West Indian spinner Akeal Hosein was the leading wicket-taker for the tourists, with three wickets in his bowling charts.

The green shirts have brought Muhammad Wasim in place of Hasan Ali.

The match is scheduled to start at 4:00pm. Both the teams were brought to the stadium under tight security. As expected, Multan fans would turn up in large numbers and beat the heat to support the team.

All-rounder Khushdil Shah’s heroics in the first ODI on June 8 caught everybody’s attention when he hit three consecutive sixes in an over, bringing the home side near to the victory. The thriller performance also prompted skipper Babar Azam to award the man of the match to Khushdil.

Khushdil, who plays for Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League, made 41 off 23 balls and led the side to the victory by five wickets.

There were great knocks from both sides in the first match.

Social media users had hailed the nail-biting contest as the “good news” amid the ongoing economic and political situation in the country.
