KARACHI: IGP Sindh GhulamNabiMemon Tuesday directed the police to ensure the formation and immediate implementation of a contingency plan comprising foolproof security measures for the cattle markets established in the Sindh province, including along Superhighway.

He said that in the overall security matters, the coordination with Pakistan Rangers Sindh and other law enforcement agencies pertaining to the overall law and order situation should be kept in view.

He said that with regard to concrete security and traffic measures, steps should also be taken to set up cattle markets only at selected or designated places and all measures against illegal cattle markets should be made effective at all levels.

The IGP Sindh said that all the main routes to and from the superhighway cattle markets should be surveyed on the basis of police stations in the surrounding areas including sub-routes and raids should be carried out under regular surveillance and identification in the areas potentially affected by crime. Patrolling, picketing and random snap checking at the level of police stations on highways and other highways should be tightened for the security of various vehicles carrying cattle and traders.

The IGP said that apart from setting up temporary police pickets to protect buyers and traders in cattle markets, all security and traffic measures at car and motorcycle parking lots should be made exceptional.

IGP Sindh said that all possible steps should be taken for continuous liaison with the concerned police stations including zonal and district wireless bases.

He said that in order to maintain law and order in the city and to monitor the possible suspicious activities and criminal elements in different areas, the measures like implementation of necessary instructions issued by the Central Command and Control Center at the Central Police Office should also be ensured.
