Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said the politicians would have to raise themselves from their “ego and stubborn attitude” to develop health, economy, industry, agriculture and other sectors of the country.

“A grand dialogue among the stakeholders is necessary for the country so that public-friendly projects and development sectors are not politicised,” said the premier while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of Indus Hospital in Lahore on Sunday.

The premier wanted to keep the newly-inaugurated hospital that comprised 600 beds “away from politics” and handed over it to the management of the Indus Hospital.

The “globally recognised” management of the hospital only required money from the government to run the expenditure of the hospital.

The prime minister lamented the “politicization” of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre (PKLI) in Lahore and said: “Only people suffered the loss due to the politics on institutions.”

He questioned whether the politicians would not learn from their mistakes and people would have to give “sacrifices on the politicization of the institutions” .

PM Shehbaz said a number of hospital in Punjab, including 250-bed Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh, named after President of Turkey, was handed over to the management of Indus Hospital to run the matters efficiently.

He lauded founders of the recently-inaugurated hospital, namely Iqbal Kachi, Javed Ihsan Bhatti and Mian Muhammad Ahsab, for donating billions of rupees for the hospital in Lahore. “They do not take profit from the revenue of the hospital but only salaries that have been allocated by the Punjab government”

The prime minister vowed to revitalize an education and shelter scheme started by the Punjab government in 2001 by Rs1 billion and reached to Rs10 billion till the last tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. He was told that the funding was barred by the former government.

He asked Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz to reduce price of Metro bus tickets to half in peak hours due to hike in fuel prices.

The premier reiterated Rs2,000 monthly aid to at least 70 million Pakistanis to combat the inflation.
