India asked to submit response on controversial Pakal Dul Hydro project
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has asked India to submit its response on the controversial Pakal Dul Hydro project located in Indian Occupied Kashmir during a second round of talks that are ongoing to discuss water issues between the two countries in New Delhi under the Indus Water Treaty of 1960.
India assured the Pakistani delegation that an inspection of Khwar and Pakal Dul Hydro projects would be conducted probably after the monsoon season.
A five-member Pakistani delegation left for India Sunday to discuss issues pertaining to the sharing of water between the two countries as both countries struggle with the impacts of climate change that has resulted in a prolonged heatwave and heavy rain.
Ahead of the delegation’s departure, Islamabad was expected to raise concerns over three controversial hydropower projects in Indian Occupied Kashmir: Pakal Dul, Talnai and Karo.
