Kurram Dastagir hints at another price hike in petroleum products
Federal Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir Khan Sunday signaled another hike in the prices of petroleum products before June 30, 2022, owing to the government’s decision to roll back billions in fuel subsidies to meet International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout conditions.
“The government is giving over 100 billion rupees in terms of subsidy on the petroleum products,” the minister said while talking exclusively at Aaj News programme Rubaroo.
He said that an increase in the power tariff was also expected in July 2022.
On May 28, the coalition government had increased the prices of petroleum products by Rs30 per liter, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif blaming the PTI-led government for forcing the incumbent government of doing so.
Speaking about Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairperson Imran Khan’s claims of making preparations for his party’s next march toward Islamabad, Dastgir said that no one would be allowed to spread chaos and anarchy in the country.
“Supreme Court can not give anyone the right to spread chaos and the right to break the law,” he added.
His statement came after the PTI chairman during his address in Charsadda on Sunday said that he would lead another protest toward Islamabad, adding that this time his party would be more prepared.
