Israel President Isaac Hergoz has said that he met a delegation of overseas Pakistanis during the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The WEF annual meeting, which was held from May 22 to 26, hosted leaders from around the world.

“I received a delegation of Pakistani expats who live in the United States but they are proud Pakistanis. And I must say this was an amazing experience because we haven’t had a group of Pakistani leaders in Israel ever in such scope,” he said while responding to a question by former Norwegian foreign minister Borge Brendeat at a session during the summit on May 22.

The former Norwegian foreign minister had asked a question about the Israeli president’s scope of cooperation and expansion of ties across the world.

Hergoz added that the country was seeing expansion in bilateral deals and visits to the country by foreign leaders. And, a delegation from Morocco had also called him.

Pakistan’s foreign policy does not accept Israel as a nation, and the Pakistani passport clearly mentions it is valid to travel to all countries except Israel.

The Israeli president said that such developments were possible because of the Abraham Accords, a peace treaty signed by Israel, UAE and other Arab nations.

“And that all stemmed from the Abraham accords, Jew and Muslim can dwell together in the region. Of course, with Christians who live in the region and Druze and other religions.”

The Israeli President visited Turkey to meet Recep Tayyip Erdogan in March 2022, which was seen as an effort to thaw relations between the two countries.
