Max temperature in Karachi may hit 40°C over the weekend: Chief Met officer

With severe hot weather and an ongoing heatwave in most parts of the country, temperatures in Karachi are likely to rise to 40°C on Friday and Saturday, said Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department, on Wednesday (today), reiterated its advice about precautionary measures to avoid heatwaves as hot and dry weather is expected to persist in most parts of the country.

Plain areas across the country will remain under the grip of severe heatwaves.

Day temperatures likely to remain 7-9°C above normal in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir, while 6-8°C above normal in Sindh and Balochistan.
