OKARA: Hamza feels "no remorse" for killing his sister, Sidra Khalid, in the name of so-called honour in a village near Okara.

“I killed her when she tried to leave the house to model again after staying for us for a month. I have no shame for killing my sister because I have done this to protect the family's honour,” Hamza told Aaj News at the Renala Khurd City police station.

He introduced himself as Sidra's brother and admitted to killing her because she was not living at home for the last six months as she tried to establish a modelling career despite objections from her family.

Hamza added that no one from their family was in the modelling profession and his sister refused to listen to their parents.

Sidra, 22, was laid to rest at a local cemetery after funeral prayers. The police handed over her body to the family after conducting a post-mortem.

DSP Zafar told reporters that Hamza had shot Sidra dead with a pistol. The suspect will be presented in court after the post-mortem report is released.

SHO Javed Khan said that the investigation was ongoing.
