A Japanese woman's rendition of the Pakistan national anthem wowed the diplomatic corps at an event organised by the Pakistan Embassy in Japan to celebrate 70 years of bilateral ties.

Pakistan Ambassador to Japan Isma Siyal vowed to strengthen diplomatic ties with Japan in future.

She thanked the Japanese government for extending its help, adding that more than 70 Japanese companies are currently working in Pakistan, contributing to the country's progress in different sectors.

Meanwhile, the prime minister of Japan has extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his assumption of office. The Japanese premier also congratulates the people of both Japan and Pakistan for the successful seventy years of their bilateral relations.

"Japan established diplomatic relations with Pakistan on 28th April, 1952, the very day when the San Francisco Peace Treaty went into effect and Japan regained its independence," the Japanese embassy in Pakistan said in a statement.

"Japan and Pakistan have nurtured friendly relations over the years, extending support to each other when in need," the statement quoted PM Kishida as saying.
