Allegations of corruption have been levelled against First Lady’s close friend and aide Farah Khan by the opposition after a picture of her sitting in a private jet with a luxury bag, reportedly costing $90,000, by her side went viral on social media on Tuesday.

According to Dawn.com, Farah left for Dubai on Sunday after the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was dismissed and the National Assembly was dissolved. Her husband, Ahsan Jamil Gujjar, has also flown out of the country.

Former provincial minister and PTI leader Aleem Khan was the first to allege that former CM Usman Buzdar took bribes for transfers and postings of civil servants in Punjab, and Khan remained complicit in these corrupt practices. She’s believed to be Buzdar’s ‘front-woman.’

PTI supporters are calling out the opposition for “cooking up” stories because they can’t find anything against the PM.

“This Farah Khan propaganda is the oldest one in the book, attack Khan's wife, her family, friends etc because they can’t get to him directly. This episode has been replayed since he was married to Jemima,” said one user.

PMLN leader Maryam Nawaz spoke about the corruption allegations against Khan, calling her the “mother of all scandals.”

“I dare to name Farah, a friend of Bushra Bibi who is involved in receiving millions of rupees in transfers and postings and these are directly connected to Banigala,” said Nawaz.

Speaking about the viral photos, the PMLN leader said, “I’ve also seen the photos circulating on social media. The animal skin bag is worth Rs3 crore, where did it come from?”

Social media users had hilarious responses to Nawaz’s question.

“Maryam Nawaz asking where Farah Khan bought that animal skin bag from so she can also buy it in all available colours to match one with each of her Swarovski studded Manolos!” said one user.

Nawaz herself is famous for indulging in brands and expensive sartorial choices, and Twitterati didn’t let her “play dumb.”

Some people pointed out a “twist” in the story.
