Hollywood actor Jim Carrey may just appear for the last and final time in “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” as the iconic comedian hints at leaving acting behind, saying he is “fairly serious” about the decision while talking to Access Hollywood.

“Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious,” Carrey said. “It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”

Carrey added, “I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”

Carrey fans are already used to the actor taking extended acting breaks, since before appearing in Sonic the Hedgehog in 2020, he had not graced the big screen since 2014’s Dumb and Dumber To.

The actor continued to appear in indie films, including ‘Dark Crimes’ and ‘The Bad Batch’. He also appeared on the silver screen, including on Showtime’s 20 episode comedy series, ‘Kidding’ and he also appeared as Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live in 2020.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” is Carrey’s return to the franchise, where he is joining actors Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, James Marsden and Natasha Rothwell.

The first movie came out in February 2020, right before the pandemic started and it grossed just under $320 million worldwide. The sequel adds the voice of Idris Elba to the mix as Knuckles, a character that will be getting a spinoff series at Paramount Plus in the future.
