Like nine pins: Aleem Khan-led faction announces support for opposition
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) dissident faction led by Aleem Khan on Wednesday announced that it will unconditionally support the opposition on the no-confidence motion that seeks to oust the prime minister.
According to Samaa, the Aleem Khan group has also refused to support PTI's nominee, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, as the next chief minister Punjab, adding that the group would vote in favor of the opposition's candidate.
Spokesperson of the group, Khalid Mehmood, said that the he cannot even repeat words PM Imran Khan had used against PML-Q’s Elahi in the past and every sincere member of the PTI has reservations on the announcement.
"If PML-Q's Pervez Elahi is going to be among the architects of 'Naya Pakistan', then how would PTI justify its existence," he asked.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Imran Khan in a meeting with Elahi at his Banigala residence, nominated Elahi for the Punjab CM Punjab slot with incumbent Usman Buzdar asked to resign.
The spokesperson further said the group will not engage in any horse trading and will unconditionally support the opposition parties.
