Supermodel Bella Hadid announced on Wednesday that she will be donating all her earnings from this year’s Fashion Week to those in need of “help, refuge and medical aide” in Ukraine and Palestine.

Hadid, who has been vocal about her views on war atrocities that people from Ukraine and Palestine are facing, said that it has been very emotional watching her Ukrainian friends and colleagues working hard while “brutal occupations and invasions” were happening in their country.

“To watch my Ukrainian friends and colleagues working hard here in Europe, so close but so far from their families/friends/homes in Ukraine who are experiencing one of many brutal occupations and invasions happening right now in the world is a very emotional and humbling experience for me,” she said in an Instagram post.

The model admired the “strength and perseverance” of her colleagues who are committed to their work even when they are “going through pure terror.” Hadid extended her support to every person whose life has been affected by this war. “To hear their stories and emotions first-hand is devastating and I wholeheartedly stand with them in support,” she said.

She later vowed to support those in need financially as well. Taking after her sister Gigi Hadid and friend Mica Arganaraz, Hadid announced, “I will be donating all of my earnings from this Fashion Week directly to organisations that are providing help, refuge and medical aid to those in need on the ground in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support our Palestinian people and land.”

To conclude, Hadid quoted Gigi’s sentiments on the matter. ““Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion. At the end of the day, innocent lives pay for the war, not leaders.”

Gigi, who has also been as vocal as her sister regarding Ukraine and Palestine, had pledged to donate her earnings from the Fall 2022 shows to “aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine.”

“HANDS OFF UKRAINE. HANDS OFF PALESTINE. PEACE. PEACE. PEACE,” she said in her Instagram post.

Posting about the model’s generous donation, Vogue Magazine censored the mention of Palestine out of her statement. The post was rectified after some social media users lambasted the magazine for the omission.

The publication later added an editor’s note at the bottom of the post describing Gigi’s relief efforts that said, “We have updated this caption to accurately reflect Gigi Hadid's statement on her donation.”
