At least 3 dead, 17 injured in Quetta explosion

At least three people including a former Deputy Superintendent of Police lost their lives and 17 others sustained injuries in an explosion on Fatima Jinnah Road in Quetta on Wednesday, Aaj News reported.

The blast occurred near a stationed police mobile.

Witnesses reported roaring flames of fire on the site of the blast as firefighters reached the spot to extinguish the flames.

Rescue teams and security forces including police rushed to the spot to investigate the nature of the blast.

The injured were rushed to a nearby civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment.

According to GeoNews, the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Quetta Fida Hassan said that the blast was caused by improvised explosive device (IED) and two to three kilogrammes of explosives were used.

Earlier in February, at least two security forces personnel were injured in a blast near a school at Saryab Mills, Quetta.

According to Aaj News, the explosive was placed on a motorbike near the school.
