Hassan Sheheryar Yasin’s wedding ensemble for his dear friend featured on the coveted Vogue website on February 1 and he couldn't be more thrilled.

HSY took to Instagram to share the happy news, while also thanking Vogue for not only featuring his design but also for celebrating Pakistani traditions in their article, something the designer says he “always strived to bring to the forefront.”

He further said that it was a joy to design for his friend and businesswoman Umber Ahmed and only hoped for things to go “onwards and upwards” for her.

The dress was inspired by an old photo of a Russian princess that appealed to HSY. The colours chosen for the dress were a deep pomegranate colour, an ode to the traditional brides of South East Asia but with an ombre effect to also keep it modern.

Ahmed wanted to tell her story with her clothes and by creating a 69 pound or 31.2 kg gown coupled with a 26 pound (11.2 kg) dupatta, HSY helped her do that and a lot more. Getting into the clothes alone required a village that rejoiced when the mammoth task of putting on the clothes was done. While HSY personally flew in to America to ensure that the dupatta and gown were set properly after the jewelry was added.

The Vogue piece itself was a feature for Umber Ahmed and her love for Pakistani traditions and how she managed to pull off a desi wedding away from home with the help of her friends. We wish only the best for both HSY and Umber Ahmed.
