Pakistani singer-turned-actor Fawad Khan who has been away from the limelight for several years is set to return with a bang with several exciting projects in the coming year. In his latest interview with renowned Indian journalist Anupama Chopra, Khan talked about Bollywood, being on a break, working with Sanam Saeed and the release of new projects.

The actor, who recently turned 40, was last seen on screen in a 2016 Indian movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, directed by Karan Johar. After a five year long hiatus, Khan is now making his comeback with a web series alongside 'Zindagi Gulzar Hai' co-star Sanam Saeed. Directed by Asim Abbasi, fans will be able to watch the series on Indian streaming platform, Zee5.

When Chopra probed Khan for details about the show, the Humsafar actor said that he can’t say much apart from the fact that Saeed is part of the series. “It has been an amazing experience working with this wonderful cast and crew. There’s one thing I can definitely say that even if I didn’t get to know everyone on a one-on-one basis, but I spent a great time with most of them.”

Khan added that this is the second time he feels like he’s made a family on set. The first was while working on Kapoor & Sons. “A lot of positive energy went into making it and I felt those positive vibes. I love these guys. This project is dear to me and near my heart,” he said.

The legend of Maula Jatt, Money Back Guarantee and Neelofar are three films featuring Khan that are set to release in the coming years.

“I know I’ve been away for five to six years. During this time, I actually shot three films and when the dam breaks, it’s going to be a lot of stuff to watch,” said Fawad.

Chopra asked the actor if he misses Bollywood to which he simply replied, “I do.”

“I made some great friends there and still keep in touch with them. I miss Mumbai, I think it’s a beautiful city. In fact, every city I’ve been to, I’ve had a lovely experience,” said Khan. He also added that he would love the chance to work in Bollywood again and wished to see more peaceful times.

Khan also launched a platform in May, called The Next Big Story, that “aims to provide aspiring writers with the opportunity for exposure, to help them realise their talent, and to help them overcome some of the challenges that content writers face today.”

Speaking about this project, Khan informed Chopra he feels there is a dearth of fresh content. “Everyone wants to be an actor or a director but very rarely do you want to be a writer, a DoP or any cog in the wheel that makes it go round. That trend is changing now. In the case of writers, the concept was to make people write synopses, stories and film concepts and send them in. We encourage this activity through our platform. There’s a need for content as well as a need to nurture writers. This way, we could kill two birds with one stone,” he said.

One of the most excited things out of the entire interview was when Khan confirmed his role in Marvel Cinematic Studio’s Ms. Marvel. “It was good fun. The cast that I worked with, the people that I worked with, it was good fun, but I am sorry, I cannot say anything more than that at this point in time,” he said.

Fans are super excited after this big reveal.
