Spin-heavy attack likely as Pakistan name 12-man squad for Bangladesh Test
Pakistan on Thursday announced a 12-member squad for the first test match against Bangladesh that would be played from Friday (tomorrow) at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram (Chittagong).
The green shirts have called uncapped batter Abdullah Shafique, left-handed batter Imam-ul-Haq, and right-arm spinner Sajid Khan for the first match, according to a PCB press release.
“The match will start at 1000 local time,” it read.
According to the PCB, the 12-member squad include captain Babar Azam, vice captain Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Abdullah Shafique, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Seasoned pacer Muhammad Abbas was the only notable absentee from the squad.
The Green Shirts would try to continue their winning streak in the country after they whitewashed the hosts in the three-match T20I series. The Tigers are already under fire after a lacklustre performance in the limited leg of the series as its star players battle injuries.
Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are already sidelined due to injuries, while middle order mainstay Mahmudullah has retired from the longest format of the game, bringing the end to a 12-year career that began in 2009.
