ISLAMABAD: Adviser on Finance Shaukat Tarin has directed the gas companies to streamline gas supply to the fertilizer plants for smooth production of fertilizers.

Chairing a meeting on fertilizers in Islamabad today, he also directed the stakeholders to evolve consensus on matters related to sales tax refund and Gas Infrastructure Development Cess payments on fast track basis.

The Secretary Ministry of Industries and Production briefed the meeting about demand and supply situation of fertilizer in the country. He said supply of gas to Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited based Urea Plants will assure production of additional 300,000 metric tonne till January next year.

The Secretary said the government is firmly committed to ensure maximum gas supply to all fertilizer units.

He further stated that the tender for import of 100,000 metric tonne of Urea has also been advertised.
