Denmark thanks Pakistan for assisting its citizens after Taliban takeover in Afghanistan
ISLAMABAD: Denmark has thanked Pakistan for assisting its citizens after Taliban's take over in Afghanistan.
The thanks were coveyed by Denmark's Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, during a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations and current situation in Afghanistan.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi apprised his counterpart of the current situation in Afghanistan and also shared Pakistan's perspective.
He also apprised about the assistance provided by Pakistan in the evacuation of diplomatic staff, citizens, Media persons and officials of international organizations from Afghanistan.
He said overall, Pakistan facilitated the transit of more than 12,000 people from 30 countries and international organizations.
The Foreign Minister said Pakistan is committed to further upgrading bilateral cooperation with Denmark, particularly in trade and economic fields.
He said both countries need to enhance people-to-people exchanges by taking steps to facilitate genuine travellers.
The Foreign Minister urged Denmark to review the travel guidelines for Pakistan in view of the improving security situation in the country.
He invited his Danish counterpart to pay an official visit to Pakistan which he accepted. Jeppe Kofod also invited Shah Mahmood Qureshi to pay visit to Denmark.
