Minister slams UK for putting Pakistan on 'red list' while India on 'Amber'

Shireen Mazari said that how can UK govt rationally place India on Amber list while keeping Pakistan on

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari on Thursday described keeping Pakistan on the 'red list' of travel ban countries and promoting India to 'Amber' as a political move.

"How can UK govt rationally place India on Amber list while keeping Pakistan on Red List? No scientific reason for this discrimination. Only politics coming into play again -- UK cabinet showing clear political proclivity towards India," the minister tweeted.

Shireen Mazari also shared a tweet of British lawmaker Naz Shah who also criticised UK government's decision to keep Pakistan on "red list" for international travel but promote India to the "amber list" despite the fact that Covid-19 situation being more serious in India.

"I had stated in April this year that UK was playing politics on Covid restrictions when they put Pak on Red List 2 weeks before India despite the Covid management disaster in India as opp to Pak's good management raised internationally, Mazari wrote.

Shireen Mazari had in April too criticised British government for including Pakistan in "red list" and had termed the move as inhumane move by the British government.

“This is absolutely shameful. These people have paid 1,750 pounds per person to undergo 10 days of compulsory quarantine in the UK and are being treated in this inhumane manner simply because they happen to be of Pakistani origin,” the minister had in April tweeted.

She also uploaded a video made by Pakistanis quarantined in the UK who were complaining that they were being denied food and their children were eating cold food with cases of food poisoning.
