Rupee extends losses against dollar

KARACHI: US Dollar at interbank has strengthened by 22 paisa to close at 163.89 rupees on Tuesday.

Sources told that higher trade deficit is exerting pressure on the domestic currency.

Trade deficit of July 2021 has widened by 81.4 percent to $3.06 billion while imports are up by 47 percent to $5.41 billion in the same month.

The rupee has fallen by 3.9% since July this year.
